Essential Ingredients- Dongji Naengmyeon noodles for 2 servings
- 1 pack (approx. 115g) frozen chicken breast
- 2 Tbsp vinegar
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare two servings of Dongji Naengmyeon noodles. Using a commercial naengmyeon kit makes it easy to achieve restaurant-quality taste at home.
Step 2
Check the contents of your Dongji Naengmyeon package. It typically includes chewy noodles, dried toppings, and a concentrated broth base.
Step 3
Prepare the broth, which is key to refreshing Chogye Naengmyeon. For two servings, mix 520ml of water (260ml per serving) with two packets of the concentrated broth base. Place it in the freezer for about 3 hours to achieve a lightly frozen, slushy consistency.
Step 4
Gently heat the frozen chicken breast in the microwave for about 1 minute until thawed. Once slightly cooled, shred it into bite-sized pieces. One pack of chicken breast is sufficient for two servings.
Step 5
Make the delicious Chogye sauce. In a small bowl, combine 0.5 Tbsp soy sauce, 0.5 Tbsp sugar, 0.5 Tbsp prepared mustard, 0.5 tsp minced garlic, and 2 Tbsp vinegar for a bright, tangy flavor. Whisk everything together until well combined.
Step 6
Add the prepared Chogye sauce to the shredded chicken breast. Gently mix and massage the sauce into the chicken with your hands. This step ensures the chicken is moist and flavorful.
Step 7
Boil plenty of water for the noodles. For two servings, bring approximately 1.6 liters of water to a boil. Once boiling, add the dried toppings included in the Dongji Naengmyeon package.
Step 8
Add the two packets of Dongji Naengmyeon noodles to the boiling water. Cook over low heat for just 3 minutes to prevent the noodles from becoming mushy. Overcooking can affect the chewy texture.
Step 9
Immediately drain the cooked noodles in a colander. Rinse them thoroughly under cold running water to remove excess starch and enhance their chewy texture. Gently squeeze out any excess water from the noodles and arrange them in serving bowls.
Step 10
Arrange the seasoned chicken breast topping evenly over the noodles in the bowls.
Step 11
Finally, pour the chilled, lightly frozen broth over the noodles and toppings. Sprinkle generously with sesame seeds for an extra burst of flavor and aroma. Your delicious Chogye Naengmyeon is ready to be enjoyed! Bon appétit!
