Main Ingredients

  • 200g Square fish cakes (about 2-3 thick pieces)
  • 1/4 Onion
  • 1/2 stalk Green onion
  • 3cm Carrot

Stir-Fry Seasoning

  • 50ml Water
  • 2 Tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Minced garlic
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil
  • 1 tsp Toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 pinch Black pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s prepare the ingredients for this delicious fish cake stir-fry. Cut the square fish cakes into roughly 1cm thick, bite-sized pieces. Thinly slice the carrot and onion into matchsticks. Cut the green onion diagonally into about 1cm wide pieces. This preparation ensures the seasoning is evenly distributed and the dish is extra flavorful.

Step 1

Step 2

Now, let’s make the flavorful seasoning sauce that will make this dish shine. In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, 1 teaspoon of toasted sesame seeds, and a pinch of black pepper. Mix everything thoroughly. Preparing the sauce in advance will make the cooking process much smoother.

Step 2

Step 3

In a wide pan or wok, add 50ml of water. Then, add the prepared fish cakes and carrots. Stir-fry over medium-high heat for about 3-5 minutes, or until the fish cakes become soft and the carrots are slightly tender. Cooking with a little water first helps keep the fish cakes from becoming tough.

Step 3

Step 4

Once the carrots are cooked and the fish cakes are tender, pour all the prepared seasoning sauce into the pan. Stir and mix continuously as you cook, ensuring the seasoning coats all the ingredients evenly. It’s important to let the sauce reduce and cling to the fish cakes.

Step 4

Step 5

When the sauce has slightly reduced and is well absorbed by the fish cakes, add the julienned onion and diagonally sliced green onions. Continue to stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes. The sweetness of the onion and the fragrant aroma of the green onion will deepen the overall flavor of the dish.

Step 5

Step 6

Once the onions turn translucent and soften, turn off the heat. Avoid overcooking, as the onions can become mushy if cooked for too long.

Step 6

Step 7

Transfer the deliciously cooked fish cake stir-fry to a storage container. Once cooled, refrigerate it. This dish makes a fantastic side dish that can be enjoyed for up to a week! ♡
