Warm and Crispy Super Simple Potato Pancakes to Enjoy at Home!
Introducing a recipe for delicious potato pancakes that you can whip up quickly when hunger strikes, without needing any special ingredients. They’re perfect as a snack for kids or as a satisfying treat on a hungry afternoon. Let’s make this magical dish that even my husband raved about! 🍁
Main Ingredients- 2 Potatoes (medium-sized)
- Pancake Mix (about 1/3 of the potato volume)
Seasoning and Others- 0.5 Tbsp Salt
- Cooking Oil (generous amount)
- 0.5 Tbsp Salt
- Cooking Oil (generous amount)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, peel the potatoes thoroughly and soak them in cold water for about 5 minutes to remove excess starch. This step ensures your potato pancakes will be extra crispy and have a clean flavor. After draining, finely grate the potatoes using a grater. While a blender can be used, grating by hand often results in a better texture.
Step 2
To the grated potatoes, add pancake mix, aiming for about 1/3 of the potato’s volume. Adding too much can make the pancakes dense, so it’s best to start with a smaller amount and adjust as needed. Season with 0.5 Tbsp of salt. If you prefer an even crispier texture, feel free to increase the amount of pancake mix slightly. The batter should be thick enough to hold its shape, but not too stiff.
Step 3
Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat. Ladle portions of the potato batter onto the hot pan, spreading them into thin, round shapes. Avoid making them too thick, as this can prevent them from cooking through. Aim for an even thickness for consistent cooking.
Step 4
Once one side of the potato pancake is golden brown and crispy, flip it over to cook the other side. Continue to flip and cook until both sides are beautifully golden and the pancake is cooked through to the center. The golden-brown color indicates delicious crispiness.
Step 5
Transfer the perfectly cooked potato pancakes to a plate. These warm, crispy delights are ready to be enjoyed! While delicious on their own, you can also serve them with a dipping sauce made from soy sauce, a splash of vinegar, and a pinch of chili powder for an extra kick. Enjoy your meal! ^^
