Boil the peas in water with a little salt as well. After boiling, drain the vegetables in a colander to remove all excess water.

Boil until the potatoes are completely tender. Drain the cooked potatoes in a colander to remove water. While they are still hot, mash them thoroughly with a fork or a potato masher until smooth. Ensuring there are no lumps is key.
