Crispy and Delicious Seasoned Bean Sprouts Recipe
How to Make Seasoned Bean Sprouts at Home
Enjoy perfectly seasoned bean sprouts, ideal for dishes like Japchae-bap or instant ramen, or as a delightful side dish for holidays and everyday meals. Simple yet bursting with fresh flavor.
Essential Ingredients- 500g bean sprouts
- A little vinegar (for soaking)
- 1 Tbsp coarse salt (for blanching)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
For a cleaner taste and texture, it’s helpful to remove any loose husks or ends from the fresh bean sprouts. Soak the sprouts briefly in water with a few drops of vinegar; this will help the husks float to the surface, making them easy to pick out. Rinse the cleaned sprouts gently and drain them lightly. Give them another quick rinse under running water.
Step 2
Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil and add 1 tablespoon of coarse salt. Once boiling, carefully add the prepared bean sprouts and blanch them for about 4 minutes. Be careful not to overcook them, as this will diminish their delightful crispiness.
Step 3
Immediately after blanching, drain the bean sprouts and quickly rinse them under cold running water to stop the cooking process and preserve their crunch. Squeeze out as much water as possible from the sprouts. Some residual liquid might remain, but this is perfectly fine.
Step 4
Add the finely minced garlic and chopped green onions to the squeezed bean sprouts. Incorporate the seasoning ingredients: 1 tsp salt and a small amount of Korean soy sauce for a subtle depth of flavor. Gently mix everything with your hands. Finally, drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil for shine and a final light toss. Transfer the seasoned bean sprouts to a serving dish and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds for a nutty finish. Your delicious seasoned bean sprouts are ready!
