Toast Components- 4 slices of bread
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 2 Tbsp strawberry jam
- 2 slices of processed cheese
- 2 tsp ketchup
- 2 tsp mayonnaise
- 6 strips of bacon
- 200ml milk (for drinking)
Egg and Vegetable Mixture- 3 eggs
- 100g cabbage
- 1/4 onion
- 30g carrot
- 30g yellow bell pepper
- 30g red bell pepper
- 2 pinches of salt
- 3 eggs
- 100g cabbage
- 1/4 onion
- 30g carrot
- 30g yellow bell pepper
- 30g red bell pepper
- 2 pinches of salt
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Start by finely shredding the cabbage. Rinse it well, pat it dry, and then cut it into very thin strips. Thinly shredded cabbage will provide a pleasant texture.
Step 2
Peel and wash the carrot, then cut it into long, thin matchsticks, similar in thickness to the shredded cabbage.
Step 3
Remove the seeds from the bell peppers (yellow and red), then slice them into long, thin strips. These add a lovely color and texture to the toast.
Step 4
Peel and thinly slice the onion. Avoid cutting it too thick, as it might not cook through as easily.
Step 5
Cut the bacon strips in half so they fit well within the size of the bread. This makes for a neater presentation and easier eating.
Step 6
Prepare all your ingredients: the shredded vegetables, eggs, cheese slices, and cut bacon. Having everything prepped before you start cooking makes the process much smoother.
Step 7
In a mixing bowl, crack the 3 eggs and add 2 pinches of salt. Whisk them together well to ensure there’s no eggy smell and the seasoning is evenly distributed.
Step 8
Add the prepared cabbage, onion, carrot, and bell peppers to the whisked eggs. Gently mix everything together using chopsticks or a spatula, ensuring the vegetables are evenly coated with the egg mixture. Be careful not to mash the vegetables.
Step 9
Heat a pan over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of butter. Let the butter melt completely and coat the pan. It’s best to keep the heat at medium-low to prevent the butter from burning.
Step 10
Once the butter is hot, place a slice of bread directly onto it. Allow the bread to toast in the butter for about 2-3 minutes until it turns a golden brown. Carefully flip the bread and add a little more butter to the pan before toasting the other side. Continue toasting until both sides are beautifully golden and slightly crisp. Make sure to toast all 4 slices this way.
Step 11
Lightly grease another pan and place the halved bacon strips over medium heat. Cook until they are nicely browned and slightly crispy. Once cooked, carefully lift about 8 strips at a time with tongs and place them onto a plate. These will be layered onto the toast.
Step 12
Now, it’s time to cook the egg and vegetable mixture. Lightly oil a pan and pour the egg and vegetable mixture into it, shaping it into a rectangular patty. Using a rectangular mold can help achieve a neater shape. Cook over medium heat, flipping once the edges start to set, and cook the other side until golden brown and cooked through.
Step 13
Spread your desired amount of strawberry jam evenly onto one side of a toasted bread slice.
Step 14
Carefully place the cooked egg and vegetable patty on top of the jam-covered toast. Generously adding the mixture will make it even more delicious.
Step 15
Lay a slice of processed cheese on top of the egg and vegetable patty. Placing the cheese between the egg mixture and the bacon will help it melt nicely from the heat. The cheese also acts as a binder for the fillings.
Step 16
Arrange the cooked bacon strips attractively on top of the cheese. The savory bacon adds a wonderful depth of flavor to the toast.
Step 17
Finally, drizzle ketchup and mayonnaise in a zigzag pattern over the bacon. Feel free to adjust the amount of sauce to your preference.
Step 18
Cover everything with the remaining slice of toasted bread to complete your delicious homemade Street Toast! Gently press down to secure the fillings.
Step 19
Slice the toast in half for easy eating. Cutting it vertically will reveal the generous fillings inside, making it look even more appetizing.
