Ingredients- 1 pack of cooked rice (warm)
- 5 sheets of kimbap ham
- 4-5 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 stalk of green onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 onion, finely chopped
- 1/8 carrot, finely chopped
- A small amount of chopped nuts
- Cooking oil, as needed
- A pinch of black pepper
- A pinch of salt
- 2/3 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1-2 eggs
- A pinch of sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, finely chop the green onion and mince the garlic. Mince the garlic by pressing it with the side of your knife after crushing it; this will add a wonderful aroma when sautéed.
Step 2
Dice the kimbap ham into bite-sized cubes, about 1cm. Finely chop the onion and carrot for color and texture in the fried rice.
Step 3
Heat a pan over medium heat and add a generous amount of cooking oil. Sauté the minced garlic and chopped green onion over low heat until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic. Once aromatic, add the chopped onion and stir-fry until translucent.
Step 4
Add the diced ham and carrot to the pan. Sprinkle with pepper and stir-fry until everything is well combined. Let the ham release some oil to meld with the vegetables.
Step 5
If using frozen rice, microwave it according to package directions until fully thawed. This ensures the rice grains remain separate and cook up fluffy.
Step 6
Add the thawed rice to the pan with the sautéed ingredients. Gently break up any clumps of rice with a spatula and stir-fry. Season with a tiny pinch of salt if needed.
Step 7
Now, add about 2/3 Tbsp of oyster sauce. Stir-fry quickly, coating each grain of rice, to give it a glossy finish. Oyster sauce adds a savory depth that enhances the overall flavor of the fried rice.
Step 8
Push the fried rice to one side of the pan to create space. Crack the eggs into the empty space, being careful not to break the yolks.
Step 9
Quickly stir the eggs to scramble them. Once the eggs are softly set, mix them thoroughly with the fried rice. The soft scrambled eggs add a delightful texture and flavor.
Step 10
Finally, add the chopped nuts for a nutty crunch and sprinkle with sesame seeds to finish. You can also add crumbled seaweed if you like. Enjoy your delicious garlicky ham fried rice while it’s warm!
