Air Fryer Smoked Pork Belly Roast
Effortlessly Delicious Smoked Pork Belly Roast in the Air Fryer
This method is fantastic because it’s mess-free with no oil splatter, and it’s incredibly simple. The results are wonderfully tender and flavorful.
Main Ingredients- 500g Smoked Pork Belly
- 2 cloves whole garlic
- 1 onion
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
While whole pork belly is often recommended to be aged for enhanced flavor, smoked pork belly already carries a rich, smoky aroma from its preparation, so no prior aging is necessary, making it wonderfully convenient. I’ve divided the 500g of smoked pork belly into three manageable portions for even cooking.
Step 2
Most air fryers feature a double-basket system. To make cleanup a breeze and prevent grease from accumulating in the main unit, lining the air fryer basket with parchment paper is highly recommended. This is especially useful as it catches any dripping oil or marinade.
Step 3
Place the prepared smoked pork belly pieces into the parchment-lined air fryer basket. Add the 2 whole garlic cloves and the roughly chopped onion on top of or around the pork. These aromatics will roast alongside the meat, infusing it with their sweet and savory essence.
Step 4
Now, let’s set the temperature and get cooking! Begin by preheating your air fryer to 180°C (350°F) and cooking for approximately 15 minutes. This initial cooking time helps to render some of the fat and begin browning the surface of the pork.
Step 5
After the initial 15 minutes, carefully open the air fryer and flip the pork belly pieces over. This ensures even cooking and browning on all sides. For a crispier finish, I like to cook it for an additional 20 minutes on the second side. Adjust this time based on your preference for tenderness and crispiness.
Step 6
Once perfectly cooked, carefully remove the smoked pork belly and roasted vegetables from the air fryer and arrange them attractively on a serving plate. Serve immediately while hot to best enjoy the smoky flavor and juicy interior. This dish pairs wonderfully with fresh lettuce wraps, kimchi, and extra roasted garlic.
