Recipe Info

  • Category : Main dish
  • Ingredient Category : Chicken
  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Deep-fry
  • Servings : 2 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 15 minutes
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Ingredients

  • 2 leaves of cabbage (about 1/4 head)
  • 1/6 onion
  • 1/2 tomato (or cherry tomatoes)
  • 1/4 green bell pepper
  • 1 green chili pepper (optional, for a spicy kick)
  • Leftover seasoned chicken, appropriate amount (approx. 1 serving)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare this recipe using fresh vegetables you have on hand. It’s perfect for using up any leftover veggies like cabbage, onion, tomatoes, bell peppers, or chili peppers from your refrigerator.

Step 1

Step 2

Wash the cabbage thoroughly and pat it completely dry. Then, thinly shred it into about 0.5cm wide strips. Peel and thinly shred the onion as well. Shredding them this way helps the sauce penetrate better and improves the texture.

Step 2

Step 3

Remove the seeds from the green bell pepper (or paprika) and cut it into bite-sized pieces. If using cherry tomatoes, halve them. If using a regular tomato, dice it into about 1cm cubes.

Step 3

Step 4

Line the inner pot of your electric rice cooker with parchment paper. This makes cleanup much easier later. Place the leftover seasoned chicken onto the parchment paper, then artfully arrange the shredded cabbage, onion, bell pepper, and tomatoes on top. Select the ‘Steam’ or ‘Multi-Cook’ function on your rice cooker and cook for 10 minutes. (If your cooker doesn’t have a steam function, you can also heat it at approximately 120°C (250°F) for 10 minutes).

Step 4

Step 5

After 10 minutes, your delicious dish of warm, tender seasoned chicken mixed with vegetables is ready! The moisture released from the vegetables makes the chicken even more tender, allowing you to enjoy it with a refreshing taste even without pickles.

Step 5

Step 6

If you enjoy a bit of spice, finely chop the green chili pepper (or Korean chili pepper) and sprinkle it over the chicken. The spicy aroma from the chili will cut through the richness of the seasoned chicken, making it even more enjoyable to eat. Eating it with the mixed vegetables adds a delightfully fresh dimension.
