Crispy and Delicious Jicama (Mexican Potato) Salad
A healthy and tasty salad recipe made with jicama (Mexican potato), featuring a unique texture.
Create a special salad with jicama (Mexican potato), which has a refreshing and crisp texture somewhere between a pear and a radish, adding nuttiness and rich flavor. This dish is wonderfully complete with simple ingredients.
Salad Ingredients- 1 Jicama (Mexican Potato) (approx. 350g)
- 1/2 Bell Pepper (choose your preferred color)
- 5 Boiled Chestnuts (peeled)
- A small amount of your favorite nuts (e.g., walnuts, almonds, sunflower seeds)
- 3 Tbsp Mayonnaise
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the main ingredient, jicama (Mexican potato), thoroughly. If it has soil, using a brush to scrub it clean is recommended.
Step 2
Just like peeling an apple, gently peel the outer skin of the jicama from top to bottom with a knife. Peeling thinly is important.
Step 3
Cut the peeled jicama into bite-sized cubes, similar to Korean radish kimchi (kkakdugi). Avoid cutting them too small to maintain their crisp texture.
Step 4
Place all the cubed jicama into the prepared bowl.
Step 5
Next, prepare the bell pepper to add color and crunch. Remove the seeds and wash it well.
Step 6
Cut the bell pepper into bite-sized cubes, similar in size to the jicama.
Step 7
Add the chopped bell pepper to the bowl with the jicama.
Step 8
Now, prepare the chestnuts to add a soft sweetness and nutty flavor. Using pre-boiled chestnuts is convenient; make sure they are peeled.
Step 9
Cut the boiled chestnuts into appropriate sizes, matching the jicama and bell pepper. Adjust the size so they are neither too big nor too small.
Step 10
Add all the cut chestnuts to the bowl.
Step 11
It’s time to add the mayonnaise, which will define the salad’s flavor. Sprinkle 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise evenly over the ingredients.
Step 12
Using a spoon or spatula, gently mix everything without crushing the ingredients. Be careful to keep the jicama crisp and ensure the mayonnaise coats all the ingredients evenly.
Step 13
Once all the ingredients are well combined with the mayonnaise, your salad is almost ready. Transfer it to a serving dish.
Step 14
Finally, sprinkle your favorite nuts over the salad to enhance its flavor and texture. Adjust the quantity to your preference.
Step 15
And there you have it – a crisp and nutty Jicama (Mexican Potato) Salad! Enjoy it with fresh greens, or serve it alongside bread for a delightful meal.
