The Ultimate Homemade Hamburger: So Delicious, You Won’t Believe It!

Homemade Gourmet Hamburger

Today’s post is all about making homemade hamburgers from scratch! We’re going for the ‘homemade’ experience, and while the patties themselves can be homemade, I’m using a pre-made Tteokgalbi (Korean grilled short rib patties) for convenience. Still, the rest of the burger is entirely homemade, making it truly special!

Recipe Info

  • Category : Bread
  • Ingredient Category : Pork
  • Occasion : Snack
  • Cooking : Grilled / Roasted
  • Servings : 1 serving
  • Cooking Time : Within 30 minutes
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Hamburger Ingredients

  • 2 large leaves of crisp lettuce
  • Dill pickles, sliced
  • Hamburger buns
  • Mayonnaise
  • Mustard
  • 1 fresh egg
  • Hamburger patty of your choice (if using pre-seasoned Tteokgalbi, no additional seasoning needed)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, thoroughly wash about 2 large leaves of fresh lettuce under running water. After washing, it’s crucial to pat them completely dry with paper towels to prevent sogginess. Once dry, tear or cut the lettuce into bite-sized pieces. Feel free to add other favorite vegetables like sliced tomatoes or onions.

Step 1

Step 2

For this recipe, I used a Tteokgalbi patty, which is already seasoned, so I didn’t need to add any extra salt or spices. Heat a pan over medium heat and cook the patty, flipping it to get a nice golden-brown sear on both sides. The key is not to overcook it, which can dry it out and lose its delicious juices.

Step 2

Step 3

What’s a burger without a perfectly cooked egg? I personally love a runny yolk, so I lightly fried the egg until the whites were set but the yolk was still soft. If you prefer your yolk more cooked, adjust the frying time accordingly. Be gentle when flipping to avoid breaking the yolk!

Step 3

Step 4

While homemade buns are wonderful, they can be time-consuming. For ease, I recommend using good quality store-bought hamburger buns. Toasting the cut sides of the buns lightly in a pan or toaster adds a lovely crisp texture and enhances their flavor.

Step 4

Step 5

Now, let’s whip up the special sauce that elevates this burger! In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon of honey mustard, and half a tablespoon of honey. This simple mix creates a delightful sweet and tangy flavor. You can add a little more honey if you prefer a sweeter sauce!

Step 5

Step 6

Spread a generous amount of your homemade sauce on the bottom half of the toasted bun. Layer on the crisp lettuce, followed by the beautifully seared Tteokgalbi patty. Top with the sunny-side-up egg and a few slices of pickle. Voila! Your delicious homemade hamburger is ready to be devoured!
