Main Ingredients- 320g ground pork
- 4 green peppers
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp chopped green onion
- 1/2 tsp minced ginger
- 1/2 Tbsp salt
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 2 Tbsp starch
- Pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
The preparation for this recipe is wonderfully simple! Besides the main ingredient, green peppers, you only need to gather basic aromatics like garlic, ginger, and green onions, which are commonly found at home. You can make delicious sausages without any special ingredients.
Step 2
Start by thoroughly washing the 4 fresh green peppers. Then, remove the stems, cut them in half lengthwise, and carefully scoop out and discard the seeds. Finely chop the deseeded green peppers. This step ensures they blend well into the sausage mixture and don’t make it too spicy.
Step 3
Now, place the 320g of ground pork into a large bowl. Add all the seasoning ingredients except for the chopped green peppers that you prepared earlier. Add 1 Tbsp minced garlic, 1 Tbsp chopped green onion, 1/2 tsp minced ginger, 1/2 Tbsp salt, 1/2 tsp sugar, 2 Tbsp starch, and a pinch of black pepper.
Step 4
Once all the ingredients are in the bowl, it’s time to knead the mixture vigorously. Scrape the bottom of the bowl and knead the ingredients multiple times with force until they bind together and become sticky and elastic. Kneading for about 5-10 minutes will make the meat mixture springy and chewy, significantly improving the sausage’s texture. Using your wrist’s snap motion can make this process more effective.
Step 5
Divide the smoothly kneaded meat mixture into desired portions. Lay out a generous piece of plastic wrap on a cutting board. Take a portion of the meat mixture and place it on the wrap. Then, wrap the meat mixture tightly with the plastic wrap, rolling it firmly to form a sausage shape. It’s crucial to roll it as tightly as possible to prevent air pockets.
Step 6
After shaping with the plastic wrap for the first time, hold both ends of the wrap and roll the sausage on the cutting board to further tighten and smooth its shape. Tightly twisting the ends of the wrap will help the sausage maintain its shape beautifully when steamed.
Step 7
Now it’s time to steam the shaped sausages. Fill a steamer with water and bring it to a boil. Place the plastic-wrapped sausages in the steamer, cover with a lid, and steam for about 15 minutes. Steaming for 15 minutes will ensure they are cooked through and have a firm, springy texture.
Step 8
Carefully remove the steamed sausages from the steamer, as they will be hot, and unwrap them from the plastic. While still warm, lightly grease a heated pan and place the sausages on it to pan-fry until golden brown. Lightly searing the exterior will enhance the flavor and create an appetizing appearance. The cooked green pepper sausages can be enjoyed as is, or sliced and used in salads or stir-fries!
