Ingredients- 2 sheets of square fish cake (or your preferred type)
- 1 bowl of cooked rice
- A small amount of green onion
- 1-2 Tbsp cooking oil
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
- 1/3 Tbsp sugar
- A pinch of sesame seeds
- 1 sunny-side up egg
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the fish cakes. If using two square fish cakes, finely dice them into small pieces that are easy to chew and eat, especially for children. You can use any type of fish cake – round, triangular, or square – whatever you have on hand works perfectly.
Step 2
Making scallion-infused oil (pa-gi-reum) will significantly enhance the flavor of your fried rice. Finely chop the green onion and sauté it in the pan with cooking oil over medium-low heat until fragrant. This process draws out the aromatic oils from the scallions, infusing the entire dish with a wonderful flavor.
Step 3
Now, let’s create the seasoning for the fried rice. Add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1/2 tablespoon of oyster sauce, and 1/3 tablespoon of sugar to the pan with the sautéed scallions. Oyster sauce adds a great umami boost, but you can omit it if you don’t have it. Feel free to adjust the sugar slightly if you prefer it sweeter.
Step 4
Once the sauce starts to simmer gently, add one bowl of warm cooked rice and stir-fry quickly. It’s important to break up any clumps of rice with your spatula or spoon and stir-fry until the seasoning is evenly distributed. Add the diced fish cakes and continue to stir-fry until they are coated and cooked through.
Step 5
Finally, sprinkle in some sesame seeds for a nutty aroma and finish the fried rice. Stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until all ingredients are well combined and the rice is slightly toasted. Your delicious one-bowl meal, fish cake fried rice, is now ready!
Step 6
Transfer the warm fish cake fried rice to a serving bowl. To make it more appealing, top it with a perfectly cooked sunny-side up egg. When you break the yolk and mix it with the rice, it creates an incredibly rich and satisfying flavor experience. Enjoy your complete and delicious meal!
