Cooking Instructions
Step 1
The biggest advantage of this stir-fry is that you can use any leftover vegetables you have in your fridge! Feel free to add zucchini, mushrooms, or any other vegetables you like, in addition to cabbage, onion, carrot, and bell pepper.
Step 2
Chop all the prepared vegetables (cabbage, onion, carrot, bell pepper, etc.) into small, bite-sized pieces for stir-frying. Having them pre-chopped will make the cooking process much smoother.
Step 3
Finely chop the green onion, perhaps slightly thicker than the other vegetables. Set it aside; it will add a wonderful aroma to the stir-fry.
Step 4
Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the chopped green onion and 1 tablespoon of minced garlic. Sauté until fragrant, taking care not to burn them. Infusing the oil with a gentle onion aroma is key.
Step 5
Once the green onion becomes translucent and aromatic, add the ground pork. Use chopsticks or a spatula to break up the meat and stir-fry until it’s no longer pink on the outside.
Step 6
When the pork is mostly cooked, add 2 tablespoons of bean paste (Doubanjiang) and 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce. Stir-fry to coat the pork evenly with the sauces, allowing the rich flavors to meld with the meat.
Step 7
Now, add all the pre-chopped vegetables (cabbage, onion, carrot, bell pepper, etc.) to the pan. Stir-fry over high heat for a short time to keep the vegetables crisp and fresh.
Step 8
During the stir-frying process, add 1/2 tablespoon of sugar to enhance the sweetness. Cabbage and onions release their own natural sweetness, so you can adjust or omit the sugar according to your preference.
Step 9
Continue to stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp and the onions are translucent. Finally, drizzle in a little sesame oil and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds for a nutty finish. This delicious pork and vegetable stir-fry is incredibly easy to make, packed with nutrition, and perfect for busy weeknights. You can also make a large batch, store it in the refrigerator, and reheat it in the microwave for a quick meal!
