A simple lunch menu perfect for camping trips! This white sausage stir-fry can be prepared as a meal kit at home and enjoyed anywhere. It’s a delightful combination of tender sausage, fresh vegetables, and rich perilla seeds.
Ingredients for White Sausage Stir-fry- 500g Sausage (Sundae, choose your preference)
- 1/8 head Cabbage (chopped into bite-sized pieces)
- 1/6 Carrot (chopped into bite-sized pieces)
- 1 Green Bell Pepper (seeds removed, chopped into bite-sized pieces)
- 1/2 Onion (chopped into bite-sized pieces)
- 1/2 Green Onion (sliced diagonally)
- 20 Perilla Leaves (washed and halved)
- 2 Tbsp Perilla Seed Powder (for a nutty flavor)
- 2 Tbsp Minced Garlic (enhances aroma)
- 1 Tbsp Salt (to taste)
- 100ml Water (adds moisture during cooking)
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil (for finishing aroma)
- 1 Tbsp Cooking Oil (for stir-frying)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thoroughly wash all the vegetables for the white sausage stir-fry (cabbage, carrot, green bell pepper, onion) and prepare them. Then, chop them into roughly 1.5-2cm cubes or bite-sized pieces. For the green bell pepper, remove the seeds before chopping.
Step 2
It’s convenient to pre-package the minced garlic in a small container if you’re preparing this as a meal kit for camping. This step makes cooking at the campsite much easier.
Step 3
Wash the fragrant perilla leaves under running water. Gently pat them dry, then cut them in half lengthwise. The perilla leaves will add a wonderful fresh aroma to the dish.
Step 4
Cut the sausage into pieces about 2-3cm long, according to your preference. Cutting them too small might cause them to break apart during stir-frying, so aim for a moderate size.
Step 5
To prepare for the meal kit, divide the vegetables into one zip-top bag and the sausage into another. Place the perilla seed powder and minced garlic into separate small bags. Bringing these pre-portioned ingredients to your campsite will allow for a quick and easy cooking process. This way, you can enjoy a delicious meal with minimal hassle at the campsite.
Step 6
When you’re ready to cook at the campsite, heat a griddle (or frying pan) over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil. Once hot, add the minced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Then, add the prepared vegetables and sausage. Stir-fry vigorously for about 3 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened. Pour in about 100ml of water; this will help steam and cook the ingredients beautifully.
Step 7
Add the 2 tablespoons of perilla seed powder to the pan. Stir everything together to ensure the powder is well incorporated with the other ingredients. You’ll notice a rich, nutty aroma emerging.
Step 8
Finally, season with 1 tablespoon of salt to taste. Adjust the saltiness as needed. Once seasoned, add the halved perilla leaves and stir-fry just until they wilt slightly, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. You want to retain their fresh flavor and texture.
Step 9
Your delicious White Sausage Stir-fry is now ready to be enjoyed! Serve immediately while hot for the best taste experience. Enjoy this special meal during your camping trip!
