Nutty Sesame Dressing

  • 4 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1/2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 2 Tbsp sesame seeds (ground)
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Prepare a pot of water to blanch the broccoli. Add a pinch of salt to the water; this helps the broccoli retain its vibrant green color and nutrients.

First, trim the broccoli into bite-sized florets. Proper washing is key! Soak the broccoli in water with 2-3 drops of vinegar for about 5 minutes to remove any impurities. After draining, rinse thoroughly with clean water 2-3 times.

Once the water is boiling, carefully add the prepared broccoli and blanch for just 30-40 seconds. Be careful not to overcook, as it will become too soft. Immediately remove the broccoli and rinse under cold water about 3 times to cool it down quickly and maintain its crisp texture.

It’s crucial to drain the blanched broccoli thoroughly. Excess water can dilute the dressing, making the salad watery and less flavorful. Place the broccoli in a colander and let it drain completely.
