Spicy Beef Bone Broth Seaweed Soup! A Red Seaweed Soup? A Special and Delicious Seaweed Soup Recipe
Today, we’re making seaweed soup with a spicy twist, using rich beef bone broth!
Ingredients- Dried seaweed 10g
- Commercial beef bone broth 500ml (or homemade)
- 1 Tbsp perilla oil
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce for soup
- 2 Tbsp fish sauce
- 1 Cheongyang chili pepper
- 2 Tbsp red pepper flakes
- Pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, soak the 10g of dried seaweed in cold water for about 20-30 minutes. Rinse it thoroughly and squeeze out any excess water. Cut the squeezed seaweed into bite-sized pieces, about 2-3cm long. Heat 1 tablespoon of perilla oil in a pot over medium-low heat. Add the prepared seaweed and stir-fry for about 1-2 minutes until it becomes tender and releases its aroma.
Step 2
Once the seaweed is nicely stir-fried, add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce for soup and 1 tablespoon of fish sauce. Continue to stir-fry for another minute to allow the seasonings to deeply infuse into the seaweed, which will enhance the umami flavor.
Step 3
Now, pour in 500ml of the beef bone broth and bring it to a boil over high heat. Using beef bone broth adds a richer, more savory depth to the soup, making this seaweed soup truly special. Once it starts boiling, reduce the heat to medium.
Step 4
Finely mince 1 Cheongyang chili pepper, removing the seeds. If you prefer it spicier, you can leave the seeds in, but starting with seeds removed is recommended. Add the minced chili pepper to the boiling soup. This will add a delightful spicy kick.
Step 5
Stir in 2 tablespoons of red pepper flakes, the remaining 1 tablespoon of soy sauce for soup, 1 tablespoon of fish sauce, and a pinch of black pepper. Mix everything well and let it simmer over medium-low heat for about 3 to 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and deepen.
Step 6
Finally, taste the soup. It should be well-seasoned, but if you find it a little bland, you can add a pinch of salt to adjust. Conversely, if it’s too salty, add a little water to dilute it. It’s important to adjust the seasoning to your preference!
Step 7
Ladle the deliciously cooked special beef bone broth seaweed soup into a bowl. It’s wonderful served over rice or enjoyed with a bowl of freshly cooked rice for a satisfying meal.
