Making Delicious Home Brunch with a Whole Loaf of Bread: Cinnamon Honey Butter Bread and High Toast
Indulge in the ultimate sweet treat! Introducing a recipe for a delightful Cinnamon Honey Butter Bread brunch that you can easily make at home, just like at a cafe. Whole loaves of bread offer a much moister and softer interior compared to pre-sliced bread, and when baked to a crisp exterior, they make for an exceptional home brunch menu. Utilizing frozen whole loaves makes the preparation even easier, making it a fantastic option for busy mornings.
Cinnamon Honey Butter Bread Ingredients- 1 whole loaf of bread
- 3-4 Tbsp honey (adjust to taste)
- Ricotta cheese (optional, approx. 50g)
- Ground cinnamon (to taste)
- 50g butter (room temperature)
High Toast Ingredients- 1 whole loaf of bread (or leftover portion)
- 30g butter
- 2-3 Tbsp sugar
- 1 whole loaf of bread (or leftover portion)
- 30g butter
- 2-3 Tbsp sugar
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
It’s easier to prepare the whole loaf of bread when it’s frozen, as it holds its shape better and is simpler to cut. Make cuts into the bread, leaving about 1cm at the bottom so it doesn’t cut all the way through. Create lengthwise and crosswise cuts, about 2cm apart, for a total of four sides. This allows the delicious seasonings to penetrate the inside.
Step 2
Slice the butter thinly so it can be inserted between the cuts in the bread. Aim for a thickness of about 3mm.
Step 3
Carefully insert the prepared butter slices into the cuts of the bread. If you have less honey or want to combine the flavors of butter and honey, you can mix them in a 1:1 ratio and fill the gaps between the bread slices, or spread the mixture on top of the bread. This will make it even moister and sweeter.
Step 4
Preheat your air fryer to 180℃ (350°F). Place the butter-filled whole loaf into the air fryer and bake for 10 minutes. Since air fryers can vary in performance, check the bread’s condition after about 5 minutes and adjust the baking time if necessary. If using an oven, bake at 180℃ (350°F) for 10-15 minutes.
Step 5
The bread will start to turn golden brown and emit a wonderful buttery aroma. It’s already delicious at this point, but we’re making an even more special Cinnamon Honey Butter Bread, so let’s be patient just a little longer!
Step 6
Drizzle honey generously over the baked bread according to your preference. Ensure the honey flows over the top and into the cuts for an even coating.
Step 7
After the initial drizzle of honey, you can add another light layer if you like it sweeter. Adjust the amount to your taste.
Step 8
Sprinkle ground cinnamon over the honey. The cinnamon’s aroma will wonderfully complement the sweetness of the honey, creating a fantastic flavor profile. If you love cinnamon, don’t be shy with the amount!
Step 9
This step is optional, but for added visual appeal and flavor, arrange some ricotta cheese you have at home on top of the bread. While initially intended as a garnish, the creaminess and slight tang of the ricotta cheese surprisingly pair exceptionally well with the sweet honey, savory butter, and aromatic cinnamon. It’s a great alternative to whipped cream!
Step 10
Finally, add one last light drizzle of honey over the bread. Your visually appealing Cinnamon Honey Butter Whole Loaf Brunch is now complete! Enjoy it warm to fully experience the burst of sweetness and rich buttery flavor that fills your mouth.
Step 11
Now, let’s make the High Toast! Trim the crusts from the whole loaf of bread for a neater presentation. Cutting while frozen prevents the bread from losing its shape and makes slicing easy.
Step 12
Cut the trimmed bread diagonally to create neat triangular shapes. You can also leave them as hexagons if you prefer; feel free to shape them as you like.
Step 13
Prepare about 30g of butter. It’s best if the butter is soft enough to spread evenly on the bread.
Step 14
Melt the butter in the microwave for about 1 minute, or until completely liquid. Be careful not to let the butter get too hot.
Step 15
Use a brush to evenly coat all sides of the bread with the melted butter. The butter will soak into the bread, enhancing its flavor.
Step 16
Have your sugar ready and coat all the buttered surfaces of the bread evenly, ensuring there are no clumps of sugar. Gently shake off any excess.
Step 17
The High Toast can be baked in an oven or an air fryer. Today, we’ll use the convenient air fryer.
Step 18
Bake at 180℃ (350°F) in the air fryer for 10 minutes. Midway through baking, flip or rotate the bread pieces to ensure all sides become evenly crispy.
Step 19
As the sugar melts during baking, it adds a sweet caramel note, and the exterior becomes wonderfully crisp, almost like a cookie. And just like that, your simple yet delicious whole loaf brunch dish, High Toast, is complete! We recommend enjoying both dishes while they are warm.
