Gullim Mandu Rice Paper Pancakes – A Dish You’ll Want to Make Again and Again!

Gullim Mandu Rice Paper Pancakes

I sometimes buy gullim mandu (dumplings without a thick skin) because they are so versatile. You can add them to stews or mix them with other ingredients for braised dishes. Today, I tried cooking them with rice paper, and it was absolutely delicious! A definite thumbs up.

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

With just gullim mandu and rice paper, this dish comes together in no time. It’s incredibly easy!

Step 1

Step 2

Lightly dip a rice paper wrapper in warm water until it becomes pliable, but not overly soft or torn. Place a gullim mandu in the center and carefully gather the edges of the rice paper to enclose the dumpling. If using frozen gullim mandu, it’s best to microwave them briefly to cook them through before wrapping. If they are at room temperature, you can use them directly.

Step 3

I used 11 kimchi gullim mandu today, so I prepared 11 rice paper wrappers to match. You’ll need one wrapper per dumpling.

Step 3

Step 4

Pour about 1.5 cups of cooking oil into a pan and heat it over medium-low heat. Carefully place the wrapped mandu into the hot oil, ensuring they don’t stick together. Cook them slowly, pan-frying until golden brown and crispy. Gently rotate the mandu as they cook to ensure even browning and a delicious, crispy exterior.

These delicious gullim mandu rice paper pancakes are perfect for dipping in a simple soy-vinegar sauce. They also pair wonderfully with sweet chili sauce, offering a delightful contrast in flavors!

You might wonder why wrap gullim mandu, which are already delicious, in rice paper? The answer is simple: the rice paper wrapper is incredibly tasty! It provides a wonderfully chewy and slightly crispy texture that is even more delightful than a traditional dumpling wrapper. The chewy sensation is truly addictive!
