Festive Christmas Jelly Cookies

With Christmas just two weeks away, it’s time to reflect on the passing year and create something special! While the significance of holidays might subtly shift as we age, the magic of Christmas still holds a flicker of childhood excitement, a feeling that never quite fades. This year, inspired by that same festive spirit, I’ve crafted a delightful Christmas cookie recipe using vibrant purple cookie dough and a variety of sprinkles. It’s simple, fun to make, and perfect for bringing a touch of holiday cheer to your home. Let’s create some easy and joyful Christmas cookies together!

Recipe Info

  • Category : Snacks / Confectionery
  • Ingredient Category : Flour / Wheat
  • Occasion : Snack
  • Cooking : Grilled / Roasted
  • Servings : 4 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 60 minutes
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Ingredients

  • 3 thawed purple cookie dough discs
  • 80 g dry royal icing sugar
  • 12-14 g water
  • Red shiny balls (for decoration)
  • Pumpkin seeds (for decoration)
  • Snowflake sprinkles (for decoration)
  • Christmas tree shaped sprinkles (for decoration)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Gently unroll and combine the thawed cookie dough discs into a single cohesive ball.

Step 1

Step 2

Using a rolling pin or your hands, flatten the dough to an even thickness of about 3 to 5 mm. Ensure it’s not too thin to prevent breakage.

Step 2

Step 3

Utilize a 6-7 cm round cookie cutter to shape the flattened dough. You can also use other festive shapes if you have them!

Step 3

Step 4

Arrange the shaped cookie dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (340°F) for approximately 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden. Baking time may vary depending on your oven.

Step 4

Step 5

While the cookies are baking, let’s prepare the royal icing! In a bowl, gradually add water to the dry icing sugar, mixing until you achieve a smooth, pipeable consistency. It shouldn’t be too runny. If desired, mix in a tiny bit of white food coloring for a cleaner white glaze. Transfer the icing to a piping bag.

Step 5

Step 6

Once the cookies have completely cooled, use the prepared royal icing to create a “melting snow” effect. Pipe gentle swirls or drizzles over the surface of each cookie.

Step 6

Step 7

While the icing is still slightly wet, artfully place red shiny balls and pumpkin seeds to resemble festive Christmas flowers. Then, sprinkle generously with snowflake and Christmas tree shaped sprinkles to enhance the holiday theme. Feel free to get creative and decorate them to your heart’s content!

Step 7

Step 8

Finally, allow the icing and decorations to set completely in a cool place (like the refrigerator) until firm. Your beautiful and festive Christmas jelly cookies are now ready to be enjoyed! Perfect with a warm cup of tea.
