Main Ingredients- 6 slices baguette
- 12 frozen shrimp (thawed and patted dry)
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 3 Tbsp cooking wine (like mirin or sherry)
Tapas Sauce- 30g mayonnaise (approx. 2 Tbsp)
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- Pinch of black pepper
- 30g mayonnaise (approx. 2 Tbsp)
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- Pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, rinse the frozen shrimp under cold water to thaw. Pat them thoroughly dry with paper towels. To remove any fishy odor, toss the shrimp with 3 tablespoons of cooking wine and let them marinate for about 10 minutes.
Step 2
Now, let’s make the tapas sauce. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, turmeric powder, lemon juice, minced garlic, and black pepper. Mix well until smooth. The turmeric adds a beautiful color and enhances the flavor.
Step 3
Slice the baguette into about 1.5cm thick pieces. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Toast the baguette slices on both sides until golden brown and slightly crisp. Be careful not to overcook, aiming for a light crispness without making them too hard.
Step 4
It’s time to cook the shrimp. Add another tablespoon of butter to the same skillet (where you toasted the baguette) and heat over medium heat. Place the dried shrimp in the skillet.
Step 5
Cook the shrimp, flipping them occasionally, until they turn pink and are lightly golden brown on both sides. Shrimp cook quickly; avoid overcooking them for more than 2-3 minutes to keep them tender and juicy.
Step 6
Spread a thin, even layer of the prepared tapas sauce onto each toasted baguette slice using a spoon or a small spatula. Don’t be shy with the sauce – more sauce means more flavor!
Step 7
Finally, artfully arrange the cooked shrimp on top of the sauce-covered baguette slices. The combination of plump shrimp, crunchy baguette, and creamy sauce is simply delicious.
Step 8
For an extra touch of color and freshness, sprinkle some chopped parsley over the top. Your delicious shrimp tapas are now ready to be enjoyed! They make a wonderful accompaniment to wine or a fantastic addition to your party spread.
