- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
- 5 Tbsp pre-made bulgogi sauce (or soy sauce based marinade)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp tuna extract (or fish sauce)
- 1 Tbsp perilla oil (or sesame oil)
- A pinch of black pepper
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the 1 portion of thinly sliced beef for bulgogi. Place the beef in a bowl and add 5 Tbsp of pre-made bulgogi sauce, 1 Tbsp of minced garlic, 2 Tbsp of soy sauce, 2 Tbsp of tuna extract, 1 Tbsp of perilla oil, and a pinch of black pepper. Gently mix everything with your hands until well combined. Marinate for at least 10 minutes for enhanced flavor. (If you’re short on time, you can cook it right away!)
Step 2
While marinating the beef already makes it delicious, stir-frying it with vegetables creates an even more abundant and satisfying dish. We’ll let the marinated beef sit for a moment.
Step 3
Prepare the vegetables for the bulgogi. Slice the onion into thin strips. Cut the carrot into similar thin strips. Slice the green onion diagonally. Trim the base of the enoki mushrooms and separate them into strands. Gather all the prepared vegetables.
Step 4
Heat a wok or a wide pan over medium-low heat. Add 2 Tbsp of cooking oil and 1 tsp of minced garlic. Sauté until the garlic becomes fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
Step 5
Once the garlic is fragrant, add the sliced onion, carrot, and green onion to the pan. Stir-fry them until they begin to soften slightly. We’ll add the enoki mushrooms later as they cook quickly.
Step 6
When the onions are about half translucent, add the marinated beef to the pan. Gently separate the meat strands as you add them to prevent clumping.
Step 7
Cover the pan with a lid after adding the beef. This helps the ingredients cook faster and more evenly using the steam generated from the beef and vegetables. Let it steam for about 2-3 minutes.
Step 8
Remove the lid and continue to stir-fry over medium-low heat for about 3-5 minutes, or until the beef is cooked through. Ensure the pink color is gone and the beef is nicely browned. Avoid cooking over high heat, as this can make the meat tough.
Step 9
Once the beef is fully cooked, just before turning off the heat, drizzle in 1 Tbsp of sesame oil and sprinkle 1 tsp of toasted sesame seeds for added aroma and flavor.
Step 10
Finally, add the prepared enoki mushrooms and gently mix them in with the residual heat. Enoki mushrooms cook very quickly, so just mix them briefly to prevent them from becoming watery. Once all ingredients are well combined, your delicious bulgogi is ready! Serve hot with rice.
