Essential Ingredients- 300g Beef Bulgogi Cut (leaner cut preferred)
- 200g Fresh Bean Sprouts
- 1 Scallion (mostly the white part)
- 1 Red Chili Pepper
Beef Marinade Ingredients- 1 Tbsp Mirin (or cooking wine)
- Pinch of Salt
- Pinch of Black Pepper
Stir-Fry Sauce Ingredients- 2 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1/2 Tbsp Sugar
- Pinch of Black Pepper
- 1 Tbsp Mirin (or cooking wine)
- Pinch of Salt
- Pinch of Black Pepper
Stir-Fry Sauce Ingredients- 2 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1/2 Tbsp Sugar
- Pinch of Black Pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the vegetables. Finely chop the scallion, focusing on the white parts. Deseed the red chili pepper and slice it thinly for color and a hint of spice. Having your ingredients prepped makes cooking much smoother.
Step 2
Marinate the Beef: Gently pat the beef dry with paper towels to remove any excess blood. This helps reduce gamey odors and allows the marinade to penetrate better. In a bowl, combine the beef with 1 Tbsp of mirin (or cooking wine), a pinch of salt, and a pinch of black pepper. Mix well and let it marinate for about 10 minutes.
Step 3
Make the Stir-Fry Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together 2 Tbsp of oyster sauce, 1/2 Tbsp of minced garlic, 1/2 Tbsp of sugar, and a pinch of black pepper. Oyster sauce is key for that delicious umami flavor, so don’t skip it!
Step 4
Cook the Beef: Heat 1-2 Tbsp of cooking oil in a preheated pan over medium heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry, breaking it apart as it cooks, until it’s no longer pink on the surface and mostly cooked through.
Step 5
Finish Stir-Frying: Once the beef is cooked, add the prepared bean sprouts, the stir-fry sauce, chopped scallions, and red chili peppers to the pan. Turn the heat up to high. Stir-fry quickly for 1-2 minutes, just until the bean sprouts are tender-crisp and everything is well combined. Be careful not to overcook, as the bean sprouts can become mushy. Your delicious Beef and Bean Sprout Stir-Fry is ready!
