First, prepare the ham. You can dice it into cubes or, if using sliced ham, cut it into bite-sized pieces. This ensures even cooking and makes it easier to eat.

Wash the broccoli thoroughly, then cut it into florets of a manageable size. Bring a pot of water to a boil, add 1/2 tsp of salt, and blanch the broccoli for about 1 minute. This will enhance its vibrant green color and maintain a pleasant texture when sautéed with the pasta. After blanching, rinse the broccoli under cold water and drain well.

Now, it’s time to cook the pasta. Fill a large pot with plenty of water and bring it to a rolling boil. Add 1/2 tsp of salt to season the water. Add the pasta and cook for about 1 to 2 minutes less than the time indicated on the package (typically 8-10 minutes). We want it to be slightly undercooked, ‘al dente,’ as it will continue to cook in the sauce. Once cooked, drain the pasta, reserving about half a cup of the pasta water.

Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the prepared ham and sauté until it becomes lightly golden brown and releases its delicious aroma.
