Making Fluffy Steamed Egg with the Microwave
Steamed egg is always a winner! Today, we’re making the super simple microwave version. Perfect for a quick side dish when you’re short on time.
Key Ingredients- 5 eggs (small size; use 3 if regular size)
- 1/2 pack Enoki mushrooms
- 50ml water
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare a microwave-safe bowl for your steamed egg. Lightly coat the inside walls of the bowl with 1/3 tablespoon of sesame oil. This helps prevent the steamed egg from sticking and makes it easy to remove later. Crack 5 small eggs into the bowl. If you’re using regular-sized eggs, 3 should be sufficient.
Step 2
Trim the bottom of the enoki mushroom pack and thinly slice the mushrooms. Add the sliced enoki mushrooms (1/2 pack) and 50ml of water to the bowl. Season with 1 teaspoon of salted shrimp. This not only adds flavor but also helps to eliminate any eggy smell. If you don’t have salted shrimp, you can substitute with soy sauce or salt.
Step 3
Finally, add 1.5 tablespoons of shiitake mushroom powder and mix everything well with chopsticks or a whisk until combined. The shiitake mushroom powder will significantly enhance the flavor. Place the mixed ingredients in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes. After 3 minutes, take it out, gently stir the mixture from the bottom to the top, and microwave for another 1 minute and 30 seconds. In about 4 minutes and 30 seconds total, you’ll have a wonderfully fluffy and delicious steamed egg!
