Clear and Refreshing Squid and Radish Soup for Baby
[For Babies Under One] Simple Recipe for Refreshing Squid and Radish Soup
To introduce squid to my baby for the first time, I made a mild and refreshing squid soup. I finely chopped the squid, and even though my baby is under one year old, they ate this soupy dish, including the squid pieces, without any problems. It’s a delightful way to introduce new textures and flavors!
Ingredients- 1/2 squid
- 1/4 stalk of green onion (white part mainly)
- 25g daikon radish
- Pinch of baby salt
- 400ml broth (anchovy, kelp, or vegetable broth)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Pour 400ml of clear broth into a pot and add the 25g of daikon radish. Bring it to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium heat once it starts to bubble. Boiling the radish first helps to make the soup more refreshing.
Step 2
Once the radish is somewhat cooked, add the 1/2 cleaned squid and simmer over medium-low heat for about 10 minutes. Be careful not to overcook the squid, as it can become tough. After simmering, taste the soup and if it’s too bland, add a tiny pinch of baby salt. Remember, for a baby’s first tastes, it’s crucial to keep the seasoning very mild.
Step 3
Finally, add the thinly sliced 1/4 stalk of green onion (mainly the white part) and let it simmer for a little longer. The subtle aroma of the green onion will enhance the soup’s flavor. Turn off the heat and serve warm to your baby. For a touch of richness, you can also drizzle a tiny bit of sesame oil if desired.
