Main Ingredients- 2 medium onions
- A small amount of green onion (about 1/4 stalk)
Seasoning & Other Ingredients- 3 pinches of stir-fry salt (or a pinch of regular salt)
- 1/2 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp canola oil (or cooking oil)
- A sprinkle of sesame seeds (optional)
- 3 pinches of stir-fry salt (or a pinch of regular salt)
- 1/2 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp canola oil (or cooking oil)
- A sprinkle of sesame seeds (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash and peel the 2 onions, trim the ends, and slice them into 0.5cm thick strips. Finely chop the green onion, using both the white and green parts. Heat a pan over medium heat and add 1 Tbsp of canola oil.
Step 2
Add all the sliced onions to the pan and begin stir-frying. Once the onions start to turn translucent, add 1/2 Tbsp of oyster sauce and 3 pinches of stir-fry salt. Continue to stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the onions soften and turn slightly golden, bringing out their natural sweetness.
Step 3
When the onions are well-cooked, add the chopped green onions and 1/2 Tbsp of minced garlic. Stir-fry for another minute. It’s best not to overcook the garlic to preserve its fresh aroma.
Step 4
Finally, if desired, sprinkle with a pinch of sesame seeds and toss briefly. Transfer the finished stir-fried onions to a serving dish. It’s most delicious when served warm.
